Ian St John

And to MTH. I swear those posts weren't there when I first looked :)

st and greavsie was a fixture of my childhood, in the days before wall-to-wall punditry. :( r.i.p.

Gotta say that the puppet was far better than the man himself. Enjoyed the 'lagers and vodkas' line (y)

Poster spotted on Liverpool Church back in the Sixties,
"What Shall We Do When Christ Returns"?
And some Scouse wag had added,
"Move St.John to inside right"!

RIP .... cracking picture of the 63 semi final against City on BBC website Banks and St John in action
Was behind the goal when Banksy made that save..he defied gravity to take it of the Saints toe

Meet Banksy at a sportsman dinner over 30 years later and he told he he had a framed picture of that save at his home!!

RIP Saint

Was thinking the same - i think Ian St. John was one of the first ex-player TV pundits back in the 70's
Now we are swamped with the Chris Suttons, Tim Sherwood, and Ian Wrights rambling on for one last pay-day

Saint & Greavsie were a class act and fun to watch... you can't say that about many of today's boring lot. RIP

Remember watching the game against Leeds in 1965 in B/W at my Aunts house as 10 year old. That’s when football was real, on real pitches, played by real men within proper rules and refereeing. It was a pleasure watching you play Ian RIP.

He and Snoz covered the commentary at Sunderland v Leicester back in the early 90’s of a live TV game at Roker Park. I think it was a Sunday game on ITV. They had to walk around the ground from the main stand before the game to their commentary positions and as they passed the away corner we sang Who Ate All The Pies at Snoz.

I remember Ian laughing at it.

RIP.
