Gig Update

I saw my first gig abroad in Brooklyn last week, Placebo at Brooklyn Steel. A big old industrial venue, decent actually, and good local beer. The experience wasn’t too dissimilar to the UK gig experience (unsurprisingly).

They released a new album recently, their encore included two covers from a prior covers album, Daddy Cool and Running Up That Hill. $45 for a tour t shirt was steep but had to be bought. 🙈

Tonight I saw Yard Act at Troxy in East London. An old venue whose first film in the 30’s was King Kong!! It wa moved from Brixton. Yard Act are pretty unique in their music and absolutely brilliant live. If you get a chance to see them please do.

Next up for me oddly is the Abba thing. I said I’d take my mum and sister so that’s what I’m doing. I’m intrigued by the technology, not by the music, unlike my family. It’s Sunday lunchtime too, I sense a Wetherspoons breakfast and a few pints first!!

Fat Dog supported Yard Act last night. Musically I thought they were pretty shite but I also kind of liked them. I think they’d be a great festival band. Their front man spent half their set dancing in the mosh pit whilst singing.
