Dyche deserves more credit.

Looking at this for a potential article and I didn't realise just how far behind the rest Burnley are in terms of budget. Little Leicester spending £317M too, we've come a long way since Mark Blake.

Is that what we paid or what the squad is worth?

That seems a lot to me. It also seems the Burnley owners have been squirrelling cash out of the club.

That doesn't add up for us...

Kasper £1m
Ward £12m
Jakupovic £0m

Evans £3m
Morgan £1m
Wes £35m
Justin £7m
Ricky £22m
Timmy £22m
Cags £19m
Thomas £0m
Fuchs £0m

Amartey £7m
Albrighton £0m
Hamza £0m
Maddison £25m
YT £ 32m
Wilf £14m
Mendy £16m
Praet £25m

Barnes £0
Perez £30m
Nacho £25m
Vardy £1m

Well, your list is I think £297m Filbo, so it's in the right ballpark.

Of course, net spend is arguably a better number by which to measure squad investment, and annual wage bill is probably even better at measuring relative team wealth:

That gives a new definition of the 6 BCCs! £££s ahead of everyone else in terms of salary costs.
I'm a bit wary of spotrac's data – they still have Barnes and YT especially on incredibly low salaries, and they've lumped Under's loan fee onto his salary. But you'd expect our salary total to shoot up a fair bit this summer...

I think it’s fair to say these are similar to the prices we’ve paid out.

What have we had in from reported transfer fees over the least few years, has anyone kept a tally? As @Bradnor said I’m interested to see roughly how much our net spend is.

This has us 7th or 8th over the past few years which you'd maybe expect for a team chasing a place in the top 4.

Two surprising things from here, one is Palace who are paying huge wages for little reward. Another is Fulham, their wage bill must have been huge last season for a Championship club.

Fulham sent a few big earners out on loan while they were in the Championship. I think the squad costs include add ons dependent upon appearances etc.

I was also surprised by the size of Palace’s wage bill, but I think it goes hand in hand with having the squad with the highest average age in the division. Young players are cheaper than veterans in terms of wages, the likes of Benteke and Cahill who have played for big clubs will be on very sizeable wages relative to their current ability
