Trump is always clever with his verbiage.
If you watched any of his press conferences or rallies, when he said something controversial he would often preface it with "People say" or "People are saying". This has a two fold effect, a) he didn't say it, he's just repeating it, and b) an unknown number of made up people said it, meaning it has more weight (to the completely stupid), than just being his opinion.
He's been to court enough times to know better than to put his foot in it.
I am firmly convinced he will get off scot free somehow.
Like Boris, he has an unerring ability to attract patsies that he throws under the bus when necessary to save himself.
