Census 2021

There was no Austerity, look at borrowing over the last 10 years, money was being spent in huge quantities. The Tories tried to con their supporters with talk of it, but in reality it never happened.
Apart from record NHS waiting lists and A & E waiting times, reduced numbers of police officers and nurses, an increase in homelessness, Local Authority funding cut by 49% in real terms you're not far wrong.

I'm sure I've missed a few.

โ€œItโ€™s my estimate from what I seeโ€

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

what you been doing counting everyone you bump into?

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
Exactly that... ๐Ÿ˜†

In reality, just looking at the physical evidence, massive building projects along the Thames in places like Battersea, Putney and Wandsworth, the strains on transport and other infrastructure for starters.

Whilst the government does not give any idea of people entering the country, EU citizens here under freedom of movement are not counted, legal and illegal migrants of all kinds including a fair number of criminals have been mostly allowed in unchecked.

Some serious bonking going on
There is indeed, much larger families are becoming the norm, 4 or 5 kids is not unusual and some schools are having to be expanded in order to cope.

So if there was no austerity why didn't they give public servants a decent payrise?
Because they chose to spend the money elsewhere, mostly by expanding the public sector workforce, not paying more.

Add in the costs of public sector and state pensions, the ever expanding cost of the NHS and education, etc, etc.

Seems to be the premise of most of your posts...!
Exactly, I make up my mind based on what I see and write about it.

Apart from record NHS waiting lists and A & E waiting times, reduced numbers of police officers and nurses, an increase in homelessness, Local Authority funding cut by 49% in real terms you're not far wrong.

The money is there and being spent, just look at tax revenue and yearly borrowing! Government spending is out of control (even pre-lockdown).

That it is not being spent to your satisfaction is not my fault.

The 88 million is my estimate from what I see. Substantial net immigration, freedom of movement and a substantial rise in birthrates, I do not think that 8 - 10 million over the last 10 years is unrealistic at all.

I think it is pretty obvious though, well it is to me. We moved back into west London around 2008, the change in the 10 years up to us leaving in 2018 was enormous and really obvious and this was in prosperous areas like Chiswick and Kew.

Traffic levels increased hugely, public transport too. Massive building of new homes, rents went through the roof etc and Mrs AFC's surgery was required to take many more patients. It was really noticeable, obvious in fact.
Guess you better quit looking, thinking and suggesting.
The only facts these guys believe are those spoon-fed to em from the top and reheated as microwaved rations in the GudionBBC canteen.

I must admit that. in general, I think it is easy to see through a lot of what is happening, this has been true for some time.

I do not read newspapers and stopped watching or listening to mainstream broadcast news the best part of 15 years ago. I simply did not get involved in politics, even in the widest sense, preferring to live my life without it.

This changed somewhat about five years ago, the election of DJT and the Brexit campaign and subsequent referendum enthused me somewhat so I started to take more of an interest. It was immediately apparent (to me) that the difference between what we were being told by the government and the MSN and what was happening in the real world was immense, even more so after the last year or so.

Looks to me like a few people need to put masochist on their form.

there are about 24m residential properties in the UK which works out at 3.7 people per dwelling
Assuming a population of 88m there are a lot of v overcrowded one-bed properties in the country

Hi Glimmer, I have no idea of the number of properties but there are thousands of multi-generational homes and multi occupancy flat and apartments. To be honest I really have no idea of what the population of the UK actually is, five years ago the water companies estimated 77-80 million based on the quantity of human waste, probably more now.

However, what I do no is the huge expansion of the population in west London, where I have lived most of my life, I have lived through it and seen it happen. This is the primary reason we moved out to the relative peace of Dorset.

Have you been outside London and the southeast? You may have noticed that the numbers have dropped on many places hence the push for the northern powerhouse.

Evening Hackers,

I could say that the need for the 'northern powerhouse' is driven by the lack of work for the expanding population...

The population of London is supposedly declining, it is not what I see. That said, setting foot in the northern wastelands is not something that I intend to do anytime soon.

The population of London was climbing pre-covid, there's been some urban flight since but not enough that you'd notice it

Perhaps the quantity of human waste rising, is due to more people talking shit

So it was 15 years ago you lost touch with reality . Sounds about right.

That pooves nothing

I recall seeing some figures that suggested the population was declining, that was a while ago though so may well have changed. There is no doubt in my mind that the population has increased significantly in the last 10 years, this is quite clear to me for all the reasons given above.

Perhaps the quantity of human waste rising, is due to more people talking shit
๐Ÿ‘... But possibly more reliable than government figures, probably quite difficult to fake.

London's population has been increasing the last couple of years and the average person can't afford to live in the more expensive areas so will be looking for the shared properties, self-contained flats and bedsits. Not all property developers are building shiny high-rise developments along the river on brownfield sites. Many small developers are buying houses that may have once housed a couple or small family and develop them into an HMO housing 5 or 6 single people.

The more expensive areas of London have been unaffordable for the average person for as long as I can remember. My first wife and I took the 'traditional' route of buying in what looked to be an up and coming area (Chiswick in the late 70s) and did reasonably well out of it.

Bu of course you are right, this kind of 'gentrification' is how a a city changes and thrives, but rising costs simply lead to smaller and smaller properties so population density increases with the consequent impact on infra structure.

Correct. I feel for people who grow up in placed like Brixton for example, then can't afford to live there when they grow up and have to move to outer areas away from their connections.

Well what utter nonsense - the world stretches as far as the M25.
I used to think it stopped at the M25, but then I moved house and was surprised to discover that north west of London it stretches up to the A40 in Oxfordshire. After that, well....there be dragons.

How Clapham appears in your day dreams is prolly best kept to yourself matey.

(I have always seen him in waders...)
