Betrayal

Driving back from the game Saturday we were discussing the way our fans feel about our club … the poor atmosphere, people leaving early, moaning about the slightest error.
I said that I thought fans were disenchanted with the club because of last season but actually it’s worse than that. I feel betrayed.

Betrayed by TCR … undermining players, sticking with players that weren’t up to it, awful tactics and substitutions and overall for thinking he was a football genius when in fact game by game he was sucking the life out of us.

Betrayal by Rudkin and the board for sitting on their hands and watching it happen.

Betrayed by the players we had, quality players and team of which should never have gone down but absolutely deserved to go down.

And now this season watching us completely outplay most sides in the division but not having the ruthlessness to finish them off and still giving them chances to the very end. Betrayed by a team clearly better than the rest but still thinking ‘we’ll be fine’ and not putting them to the sword.

I like Maresca. In the main, I like the style of play. I like the way he loves his players and a real desire to make them better. But he’s got to really step up now. He needs to play players in the squad with resilience and some experience of how to see games out and wrapped up. Balls played earlier, our wide men taking lessons from Albrighton about getting crosses in behind the back four, giving Vardy support from Cannon or Ian Nacho. Let’s show some strength and character to finish off the season in the top two.

Because if we finish up in the playoffs we’re done for.

A complete betrayal.

Betrayal might be a bit strong for me, but there is something very wrong with our recruitment and has been for the last 8 years or so. It's been a managed decline in quality, we got some good players in the years after the title win, but not enough and not enough consistantly and it resulted in relegation.

The squad we currently have isn't a good one, by any strectch, but this division is really poor and we're still the top dogs.

Maresca isn't going to go 4-4-2 and start swinging crosses in, it's just not his way.

If we go up and the bulk of this squad remains, then I will most slide in to betrayal camp.

As you say we watched in utter bemusement/ anger ( well the people that have half an idea about football did) when you saw the team sheet under TCR, ward again ( far better on the bench) amartey ( far better living in old peoples homes) Tete (peles better than him right now).
Betrayal is an apt description. Isn’t enzo doing/ done similar things?
Bringing choudhury on when level or winning games by a small margain when coady is sitting on his arse. Starting daka when any other striker is fit, let alone all 3 of the others. Casadei over praet……

A good manager gets the best out of what he's got, he doesn't try to make his tools do things they can't.

Baldylocks just doesn't get it, probably because he was such a good player himself

What has Praet done since he joined us to warrant getting played ahead of a player that was starting to fit in just before Chelsea pulled him back?

We have a list of Improbables, selections are a nightmare so go with the flow, as you cannot forecast who will turn up on the day

I think as time passes by the truth slowly comes out what was going on.
I hate Roger’s and Rudkin in equal measures both out of their depth.

But that doesn’t alter the situation with regards to the FFP rules which has us and many other clubs hamstrung up.

The midfielder fiasco in January basically highlighted how tight things was to do anything. Which bodes the question if we go up what resources will we have to strengthen even with players being out of contract I suspect not enough.

The blame lands with the management at the club not being aligned and together and dickhead Roger’s thinking he was bigger than the club and not really giving a sh1t about the consequences playing that w*nker Tielemans who was not committed to the club whatsoever in his last 2 seasons. That’s where Rudkin comes in to question by letting his contract rundown and a few others this year also such as Ndidi when he should have sold when he could of got something which today is better than nothing.

Maybe I have it all wrong but what your seeing in performances today are similar signs that all’s not well on the management playing side of things and behind the scenes maybe already there are murmurs of discontent, I genuinely hope I’m wrong..

So let's say we'd have managed to get rid of players with a year left on their contracts, the likes of Tilemans, Perez et al, even be it at bargain buys...what impact would have that have had on our FFP? A bit of transfer income plus wages off the books...fucking unreal if that's the difference! 🙄💩

think that is it but the trouble is if players will not accept a drop in wages they will sit it out, knowing that other clubs will be more interested if they are free. Plus I think that they still get a loyalty bonus if they see out their contracts and a nice signing on fee from their new club. Mad isn't it, especially when they can effectively leave when they want to, even on cut price terms for the club.

Tielemans played Roger’s and Rudkin like a fiddle fair play to him but the club should have been more consequent on him and yes whatever they could have sold him for would have made some difference on the FFP.
Same also with Wilf and Praet who let’s face it have spent a lot of time out injured we should of sold them out last season for whatever we could because by then the club knew exactly where they stood on the finances. I actually wonder if a lot of the Thai culture has played some part in this with them not wanting to sell cheap in order not to lose face. Again I hope that is only me getting it wrong because I’d like to think our owners are much more business astute.
