Best pub in Leicester

I liked the Queen Vic on Southampton Street when John Griffin had it
The Old Horse by Vicky Park was my local.
The Empire on Tudor Road was decent

he is buried at Welford Road ..when we go to his grave we have a drink and a nosebag in there!

I have forgotten the name of this pub. it was small and on Granby street next to the chip shop. you could wait there and help the lost away fans find a takeaway. And then help them find their way back to the train station
I’d forgotten about that one. Can’t remember the name either.

Back in the 70s and 80s the Fish and Quart on Churchgate with its Butchers Brunch and Owd Roger. Or the Van Damme bar with its disrobing damsels.
Nowadays the Blue Boar hits the spot.

Leicester let’s face it is very poor for a big City for beer quality and choice.
The salmon is good but to far from the ground, has to be the Globe and the blue boar which has good choices but is to small

Past: Spread Eagle...
Present: Market Tavern... (only town pub I’ve been in for several years, just to have a few pre match pints with John Regan and reminisce on the walk to the ground)

Absolutely, vastly inferior to both Derby and Nottingham sadly. Still at least our football team is vastly superior to theirs. Salmon is quite handy if you come into St Margaret's on the bus!

What I remember about the buckin Salmon is that every Friday dinner my mate big Dave the VPR manager, who was a road sweeper with the Council, hid his machine in the trees and bushes outside and went on the piss there. Manys the night I had to help him wheel it through town late on a Friday night and hoist it over the depot wall up on New Walk I think
