Anyone remember this from 1976

I do. Not the actual broadcast but the event.

And the reason why is early in this pandemic, when there was talk of a vaccine, there was a detailed article in the Guardian referring to this - what caught my eye was the fact that some people developed Guillain Barre. A relative of mine had that around 2002 and finished up in intensive care in Guys hospital as bit by bit his body closed down and it became very touch and go as the paralysis started to affect internal organs (thankfully he’s ok now apart from lasting fatigue).

What happened in the States was that the swine flu vaccine was rushed through and not properly tested - and then they were faced with a relatively small proportion of a huge number of the population suffering an illness that they knew little about.

Also towards the end of the broadcast interesting to hear the report from medical specialists about how safe it was smoking up to 40 Chesterfields a day!!
