Animal Products - Dementia

If it was proven that eating animal products contributed significantly to your chances of suffering dementia, would you give up?

take that, hippy!

I guess if it was proven that anything was bad for you in the long term, you might take that into account when making lifestyle choices. Or not, depending on your personal attitude to risk and how each individual processes this sort of information.

Yes, i'm already at high risk for colon cancer and heart disease, and docs told me to give up red meat about 10 years, so i did. I'm not a veggie (i was for 13 years), but i eat as little meat/fish as i can.

Don't forget to give up smoking, booze, fat, salt and sugar whilst you're at it

"people who don't smoke or drink don't live any longer it just feels like it"

Hmmm, that looks lovely, is it Linda McCartney range?
Beats me, I doubt she was any good in the kitchen. Just found that one, grilled knockwurst, pastrami, swiss on rye with mustard. A 'sailor sandwich' has to be top ten great sandwiches.

Hey keep it clean, this is a family forum.

'The presence of sailors may not preclude the presence of homosexuals, but the presence of homosexuals precludes the presence of sailors, not sandwiches.'

I gave up meat for health reasons mainly but when we got a dog I just thought this is a sentient like most animals are and feel pain and fear just as much as us in any case, reduced my diabetic blood count tbh I don't miss it really.

There goes the Alzheimer’s theory......

There are now plenty of good plant based alternatives if one craves the texture/taste of meat.
No. There is not.

If you want to be vegetarian or vegan that is up to you. You will not advance your cause by trying to pass off plant based products as meat.

Personally I eat a modest amount of meat, both in quantity and regularity. Today for example just a small amount of ham in a ham and cheese croissant for breakfast, that was it.

Are you the same person who said there were no charging stations for electric cars??
Where do you live the 1950's?
I'm not a veggie so i have no cause to advance.
I'm not asking you to become a veggie, i'm saying that there are plenty of good alternatives that are meat-like, if you are a person that wants to give up meat, but not the flavour/texture. If you dont want to give up meat, don't.
Have you never had an impossible burger?

Morning MrT. Robust start to the day, so I shall riposte.

Regarding electric cars, I actually pointed out that, given the authorities stance on EVs, we will have neither the power nor the infrastructure to make the change to EVs in the timescale proposed. That is in England anyway.

I have tried plant based alternatives to a number of animal bases products and found them difficult at best and inedible (for me) on occasions. I am quite happy to eat vegetarian meals no problem there but I have an issue with the products that try to convince me that they are a viable meat alternative, to me they are not.

I was also having a somewhat oblique dig at people like Bill Gates who seems to want to control what people eat, I would have little issue adopting a vegetarian diet and do so when visiting some parts of the world.

Bill Gates who seems to want to control what people eat
Really? How has he got time for that when he's working on injecting everyone with a microchip?

I've been almost vegan for about a year, nothing to do with any animal liberation, more about low fat, low cholesterol. You obviously haven't tried the right products. Naked Glory burgers, Quorn products, particularly mince in a chilli or pieces in a stir-fry, Richmond sausages, etc etc . It's not necessarily about trying to replicate the texture and taste of meat. When you're cooking for 5 people it's easier than cooking completely separate meals.

Quorn is an excellent weight loss product, I can shit through the eye of a needle for a week after eating that fungus based poison

Club book. Gates has been promoting a 'synthetic beef' product, maybe he has invested in it.

Diet should be whatever suits you, I know a couple who are heavily into keto and are doing great on it, I eat a mixed diet with modest amount of meat and easy on the carbs, fair amount of green veg and salad.

I deliberately eat 3 meals a day but keep the portion size reasonable. Works for me.

Are you sure? it's turned you into grace slick.

I have been a vegetarian for years, my wife is Vegan. I do not feel I miss out on anything but certainly feel better since I gave up meat and have to agree with Harwich that all animals are sentient beings. For the record I am not promoting anything, its just my choice.
