Andy Dunn of the Mirror

" lts great fun for Leicester City Fans just as it was for Burnley - but rich, relegated Premier League clubs running amok in the Championship should not be the norm"
Andy but you don't say anything about a huge rebuild, or the loss of calibre players please don't let facts get in the way

It could have easily been Leeds, or Southampton, but it’s not. That surely has shown what a fantastic job we’ve done. Also that it hasn’t happened before.

Next season will he say the same about Burnley, Luton, or Sheffield United?

We are probably one of the richest clubs to play in this league but when you’re established in the top league and you’re relegated it hurts and you need to make wholesale changes. With this comes risk.

Following their relegation, Burnley had a similar sell-off to us (Pope, Tarkowski, Mee, McNeil), rebuilt under a talented young manager, with plenty of recruitment (mostly young talent from the Belgian League), won the Championship comfortably (though not quite at our current pace), but have so far really struggled on their return.

We have more experience in our squad now than they do, but we still face a big recruitment job in the summer

14 out, 5 in, and a new manager and we're walking it.
just goes to show how shit the champ has become.
It's no longer a feeder league for the higher division as the PL clubs hoover up all the talent and then send it out on loan there, a double whammy financially for EFL clubs.
The whole structure is wrong but nobody wants to say it as the PL is 'the best league in the world' (c) tm.

You’re right there Tuz. It is a poorer league.

Premier League teams take their players now from across Europe, from across the world, from other Premier League teams. Not very often from the Championship.

Haven’t read newspapers for years, but surely the Mirror is crap anyway.

The amount of journalists:/pundits that spout complete garbage is staggering

Re the thread though, we’ve been saying it all season;
- the championship is dire
- LCFC will need a serious upgrade to compete in the Premier League
- Are we better than Burnley

Yes I think we are better than Burnley. We were totally in control for much of the game v Ipswich before we imploded, in a way I’ve rarely seen before from a Leicester City side. Maybe Burnley were the same last season, but I doubt it.

Agree. I think we are better than Burnley.
At least when we imploded it only resulted in a draw rather than a loss, which grand scheme over the Christmas fixtures was definitely more beneficial for us than Ipswich!

I'm surprised he didn't get in something about how awful we were to poor Brendan but guessing even that dick can see the table kind of answers that one. Don't read the Sun if you're a scouser, don't read the Mirror if you've got a brain.

Was gonna post this separately but I can see Leeds, Southampton and ourselves being promoted this year.
It’ll be pretty boring if the 3 teams that went up are relegated and the three relegated teams all go up.

There will be a twist somewhere. We all know the play offs are a lottery and I still think one of the bottom three in the Prem will get out of it.

Leaving aside the fact that judging by the bloke in front of me on Friday not everybody is having great fun, that the quote itself fails to give any credit for the job done so far and that, judging by the quote (I haven't read the whole piece), yet again we are being used to make a wider point...

If his point is that the gap between the PL & the Championship is too big & that the ever larger Parachute payments that are thus needed to ensure that clubs relegated from the PL don't go to the wall are skewing competition in the lower league, he has a point. If relegated teams bouncing back easily was a less frequent occurrence then I think that is one thing (after all it has always been thus) but if it becomes a regularity then that's another.

My brains very old probably that's why l posted

It has been easier than expected or we have been much better than expected. You decide. Did we implode against Ipswich or just shoot ourselves in the foot with the substitutions? Can't take liberties away against the second in the table. Turned out nice again though since with Uncle Enzo's remedy.

Certainly need to improve considerably defensively to cut out silly mistakes , also central midfield has got to be more assertive

Just enjoy this season and worry about the next one in the summer.
This is literally like walking L1 so far. As i said above, it just goes to show how poor the EFL is now.

Be nice if we could put a cheeky bid in for jack clarke in jan xfer window.
