Andy Burnham

I like the bloke, he always gives a straight answer in interviews, whether that would change if he was on the front bench who knows.

He went for Labour leader but was defeated by Corbyn. So his next step was to step down as an MP to be come a City mayor and follow the Boris route to party leadership.
Talks a good game.

Can't lose can he? Either he cheers his "victory" for wrestling more money out of the taxpayer, or he gets Tier 3 imposed and can blame the Govt for anything that isn't perfect.

From the Telegraph

His new position seems to be that while he opposes partial lockdown rules for Manchester he would favour a complete national lockdown.

He said this afternoon: "the only certain thing to work is a national lockdown... but the Government told us they are not willing to consider that". In other words, closing pubs in Manchester will ruin the economy, but if we close everything, everywhere – including every last Cornish pasty joint in Penzance, where infections are among the lowest in the country, and falling – then Mancunian businesses can breathe a sigh of relief, and all will be fine.
