Albrighton

Looked much better when he came on just his aggression and experience. Can't see why he didn't start especially when Ricardo is not up to speed. And an excellent corner for the second.

I think Ricardo looks better with a wide man in front of him.

He then gives the defenders another problem rather than being the only one to contend with.

An old phrase but he falls into the niche of " great solid/honest old Pro" very rarely lets us down, gives his all whenever he is picked.

That corner was whipped in last night and deceived their keeper👏👏

Better than Maddison at corners? 😉

Piper and the RL team agree with me about Albrighton and dead balls esp corners, I think Brendan told him to take them when he came on I think he brings an energy to midfield as well defending. How many corners have we scored from?

I've said this before, but Albrighton has to be the best genuine free transfer in the club's history and probably the Premier League. By that I don't mean some high profile player on £100,000 per week who is allowing his contract to run out in order to make a killing with a signing on fee at another club, eg Aleis Sanchez. I mean a genuinely unwanted player. Villa released him. Let him go. It's staggering. Plus, he's still only 31. He's talked about as if he came to us in the twilight of his career, but it was/is his peak. He'll never get an England cap, he'll never be poached by a bigger club, won't be talked about in the same tones as Vardy, Ndidi, Mahrez etc, but he is the kind of player every club needs.

Rodgers praised him highly in a recent interview. Her mentioned his professionalism and his general attitude and he called him a role model, in particular for the younger players in the squad.

If he chips in with a few good corners and assists, that's even better I suppose.

I’m seriously thinking and I still say considering he cost fack all he’s one of the best signings in terms of value we have made
Spot the subtle buckin difference.
The OP said he was easily the best value signing we have made, this post has reduced him to one of the best, I would agree with the latter not the former

who were you thinking of then, Vardy maybe? Excellent value, of course, but percentage wise, no one is mathematically going to be better value than a player who cost nothing.

You could argue that in terms of 'best value for money' you'd have to pick a player that we sold on at a big profit.

Perhaps in that sense, for example Mahrez was 'better value for money'.
