I think the article is correct in that statement, and in most other aspects too. Maresca rates Vestergaard and although we'll very likely target another CB this summer, I'm sure Jannik will be offered a new contract.

The man is a charlatan and a chancer.

His inexplicable persistence with these two players while better alternatives were available will remain the abiding legacy of his period with us. It's a shame that he won't be primarily remembered for giving us our first FA Cup win, but his ridiculous intransigence over team selection in the relegation season will be what people remember him for.
