Next month we played at Watford in TCR’s first game. We lost to a 94th min goal. 2-1. But look at the team we had that day. The team TCR inherited. Subs that day included Cags Mendy Nacho etc

This is why I’ll never forgive that bastard for last season. He inherited THE best squad of any manager in the history of our club IMO.

All top half Premier League players apart from Kasper and the two still with us.
Like you say ….. the ‘bastard’.
He pulled off the most despicable stunt in the history of football

Yes, it was a really good City squad of players in March 2019. They had just taken Spurs apart at Wembley in the most dominant 1-3 loss I have ever seen. Barnes and Tielemans had just arrived in the first team.

Puel's role in rebuilding the post 2016 team has probably been underestimated

How did we lose that game? Maybe because it was the first game for a while with a back 3. We had previously been playing a back four but TCR identified quite rightly that Chilwell and to an extent Ricardo couldn't defend.

Wasn't that the game that sealed Puel's fate by preferring Gray to JV up front?

Well, yes, that was the one and only time he tried Gray at 9, JV started on the bench. Vardy was brought on after 55 mins to take a penalty when were behind, which he missed (although he scored later).

We had something like 19 goal attempts, with something like 3.5 xg. So you couldn't say that dropping the GOAT was a complete disaster

I agree!
Whilst Puel was eventually let down by his manners and seemingly overcomplicating things on the pitch, he did a very decent job rejuvenating the squad.
I always felt the team was in safe hands with him but on the other hand he clearly could not get the best out of the team either.
