10 years in the nick

If you lie about what countries you've been to when traveling in to the UK.

Does this same rule apply to those fuckers sailing over here on blow up boats and old bits of floaty materials?

Reasonable question
Yeah, fleeing a war-torn country to try to improve your life and your family's is the same as travelling from abroad on a plane and not obeying quarantine rules. Silly me.

BTW I think it's draconian and all about headline grabbing to distract from the fact it's taken them a year to come up with the hotel quarantines, but cap doffers like yourself will just bend over and apply the lube.

They've decided to copy Australia with the hotel quarantine, many, many months later...

The 10 year jail thing is fucking stupid.

Yeah the fines for arranging illegal parties is proving to be a massive deterrent

Sending criminal to Australia is a great idea, I think I've read about it before

just to point out - the hotel quarantine is still not active.

mind, it's only been 86 days since the SA variant was discovered (or a quarter of a year)....

Shame Cummings didn’t get 10 years for lying about the journey to Barnard Castle .

A forthcoming chat from Welford Road nick.

'ere geezer, what you in for?

2 weeks in the Algarve mate, yourself?

Fortnight in Morroco pal.

A six month prison sentence would fuck most peoples life up so I agree, 10 years is a little bit excessive

There should be no prison sentences for lying about which country you have come back from. A fine would be sufficient.

It's is bloody lunacy on a grand scale, heavy fine is sufficient, jail..... that's the thinking of the old communist regimes at there best

Lying about your flight paths will incur a 10 year prison sentence - unless of course you are Dominic Cummings or Stanley Johnson . That presumably is taken as read ?

we should know by now that what this government advertise, and then what they do, are two totally different things.

i'll be amazed if anyone is imprisoned, even for a few days, for lying about their travel. i can't see beyond heavy fines.

I'd agree. There will be no prison sentences. But why suggest that there will be?

Then to make the sentencing tariff worse than for firearms and sexual offences.

Fucking idiots.

Presumably it's to try to convey how seriously they take it and hence have a greater deterrent effect. Like others I very much doubt anyone would get a sentence anything close to that (or any at all).
