Best pub in Leicester

First port of call on a match day is always the Royal Standard. In through the front and exit out the rear. Then always glance at the 'Wellington' still carved on the stone gate as I pass it!

I was chucked out of that outside area at the Wellington for drunkenly fuc**ng about with the umbrellas. Im much more grown up now

Never ventured into the Salmon so I'll give it a try next season (hopefully), Of the alleged real ale outlets I've visited on match days to me the Blue Boar is the best by a country mile drink wise for choice, quality and price.

used to like politically incorrect black boy and dirty duck.
current favorite kings.

not enough time or space to list others long gone now....

The Black Boy was a decent boozer back in the day.

Was the Dirty Duck, the old Kings Head/Wyvern? Another good pub that is now a supermarket.

Always painful to see the Charlotte is now a shop...

Do miss the Wellington too. Was a great pub.
Was lucky enough to get the gig at 17 as the Glass collector here on Thursday/Friday and Sunday nights in the mid 80s, great bunch of people, Carl Gunns as Bar manager, Butch the doormen, a moody Irish dude was the owner at the time (Jim?) - was absolutely heaving in here most nights and we got free entry into most clubs (especially Caspers) as a result which as a 17 year old kid was mental. Happy days.

I have forgotten the name of this pub. it was small and on Granby street next to the chip shop. you could wait there and help the lost away fans find a takeaway. And then help them find their way back to the train station

The funny thing is that I have been in loads of pubs over the years in the centre plotting the downfall of the state and didn't give a toss what I was drinking.
The only other reason to frequent these places was if they had jazz on.
Sorry to let the side down a bit...
