Betting on the horses

Gents, I’m new to betting on the horses, my mate at work has got me interested in them and I have the odd bet (used plenty of micky’s tips before) but where’s the best place to start in terms of learning what’s smart? Is it studying form? Is it just trial and error? Is it watching race after race at different tracks or maybe start with one track in particular? I’m not asking “how to win” because that’s a silly question. Just want to know where to start 😊 anyone with any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Let me be the one ........do not do it ...it is a mugs game I know 50 years still it hasn't entered my head , but I now fun bet gone are the nights of fawning over the racing post or the sporting Life and form figures, I have been watching of late the AW tracks and there is some pretty odd things going on, so if I were you just single bet Fiver on a fancy if you have to

Kendal about sums it up. I only have a few bets a day now, the game is massively lopsided in the bookie's favour. Can't really tell you anything to help you other than don't touch it with a big stick.

What you have to realise is that any sport that you can bet on has been fixed at one tjme or another and it is still rife in all sports. It doesn’t stop me punting but asMicky said the odds are loaded against you.

Exactly right. I love a punt on most sports, Racing and Football primarily. The days of Glencroft and Chaplins Club winning 7 or 8 or the bounce are long gong

David Chapman, now that was a trainer who knew what he was doing, do you remember Timeless times, Bill O’Gorman trained it won loads of races as a2 year old, also Provideo I think Prescott trained it won something like 7 races in a month. They have also changed the penalty system so it is harder to run up a streak in handicaps.

David Chapman's granddaughter is Ruth Carr
