Serious question for the political people

The left slag off the right, the right slag off the left. But aren't they all the same really..

So my question is, is there anybody in politics that you think speaks for the people, whether left or right. Is there anyone that you feel is representing you. Because as far as I can see none of them represent me or make me feel like I would listen or follow their plan.

Corbyn, although he’s a little bit too right wing for me.

I'd imagine a fair few that never make it to the front benches on either side are pretty decent.

The only time we get to hear about what good servants they are to their constituents, is when they pass away.

I'm in with Corbyn. At least he wanted things to be a bit fairer for the average working class person. Not really all the same as the Tories have no interest in fairness.

No one politician is going to please everyone. It isn't worth seeking them them out.

You have to decide what you want the world around you to be like.

For me, local communities are the key. Safe places to live, where criminality is dealt with and there are things to do.
The less your life is about work, wealth or worshipping those with fame - the better your life will be.
Good high quality, close relationships with those around you - are the route to happiness.

Seek those relationships out, rather than politicians.

until they are not allowed to have any other financial interests outside of their salary they will remain paid puppets of the banks etc.

Rather than paid puppets of whichever group has the most money...

youre out of your depth again, just be quiet !

stop guessing, its for those with the IQ above a carrots.
So you don't agree that the lobby groups that already run everything will seriously take the piss under your ideas?

Basic MP's salary is 82k which to me is nowhere near enough. If you want the best people to do the job of running the country for the country it should be at least double that. As it is now I think the Tories tend to be more capable but a larger proportion of them morally and financially corrupt whereas a bigger proportion of the Labour equivalents are well intentioned but patently not up to the job. Just when you think how can the country vote for the Conservatives because of some horrendous skulduggery or other the Labour spokesman on that issue stands up and more often than not comes across as been unable to string two sentences together (eg Angela Rayner, Diane Abbott, Jon Ashworth).

Basic MPs are all unable to string two sentences together. Look at the Tory back benches.

82k plus expenses plus lobbying fees is a lot more than many could ever wish for.

I’m not sure what the amounts are but I assume they get more money for being ministers, on committees or being a private secretary but it is absurd that people can be paid more for running a medium sized company than being the PM

TBH, Rayner didn’t need sentences when she referred to Johnson simply as “scum”.

Can’t disagree with that.

They don't get ridiculous book deals or directorships when they retire though. Do they?

And before anyone asks the "jobs" offered to Blair at JP Morgan and Nick Clegg at Facebook are abhorrent too.

Can anyone explain how Blair became one of the richest men in the world after his stint ?

Is how many people you kill for "the cause" and how big the lies you are happy to push ?

All of then are the same Labour/Conservatives because they are both the same and work for the same people, which is not us.

I know he’s very well off but is he really one of the richest men in the world?

Personally I wouldn’t want to take the pay cut (I mean obviously there are loads of other reasons I’d never be an MP).

Aren't we forgetting that £82k is pretty much their pocket money, their living, bills, heating, mortgage, meals, toothpaste, paperclips, travel, socialising etc is got back in expenses.

They get a decent salary increment for ministerial posts and a more modest allowance (not sure if it’s technically salary) for committee chair roles. This is relatively recent and I don’t think ordinary committee members get anything (could be wrong). Assuming by “private secretary” you mean the PPS role, these are unpaid I think.

I don't ever recall them using the word scum to describe the leader of a country
I’m sure some of our best leaders occasionally used an inappropriate word .
Don’t you think it would be refreshing to have politicians who have not got Old Etonian accents and values and don’t see getting into government purely as an earning opportunity ?
Time for change .
